Coming in October!!!!!
Cryolipolysis, commonly called fat freezing, is a non-surgical body contouring treatment that reduces small, localized pockets of fat by exposing them to carefully controlled cold temperatures. It is designed for body shaping, not for weight loss. The treatment works because fat cells are more sensitive to cold than the surrounding skin, muscles, and nerves.
Studies have shown that cryolipolysis is modestly effective in reducing localized fat. A 2015 systematic review of 19 studies found average reductions in skinfold thickness ranging from 10.3% to 28.5%, with high levels of patient satisfaction. A 2023 review of 18 studies reported average reductions in fat thickness of 2.0 to 5.1 mm as measured by ultrasound, concluding that the procedure is safe and modestly effective.2
Cryolipolysis is cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treating several areas, including the submental area, jawline, arms, lumbar rolls, flanks, abdomen, thighs, and under the buttocks.
During the procedure:
A gel pad is placed on the skin to help protect it.
A handheld applicator gently pulls the targeted fat bulge into a cooling cup using vacuum suction.
The tissue is cooled for approximately 35–60 minutes, depending on the device and treatment area.
The treated area is often massaged immediately afterward to improve fat reduction.
The cold causes the fat cells to undergo apoptosis, a natural form of programmed cell death. Over the next 2 to 3 months, the body's immune system gradually removes these damaged fat cells through normal metabolic processes. Once removed, those fat cells do not regenerate, although the remaining fat cells can still enlarge if significant weight is gained.
